Abstract

932,470. Ventilators. BARBER-COLMAN CO. April 3, 1962, No. 12725/62. Class 137. In an air distributer, comprising side walls 15, 16 defining an air passage 19 and having inturned flanges 24, 23 along their downstream edges a deflecting vane 14 is mounted for pivotal movement about an axis extending along the wall 15 so that when the vane is moved across the passage 19 air is deflected by the vane 14, the wall 16 and the flange 23 and flows diagonally through the outlet aperture 13 defined by the flanges 23 and 24. Apertures 54 in the vane adjacent the pivotal axis thereof allow a restricted flow of air between the upstream and downstream sides of the vane. As shown, two walls 15 and a single wall 16 are employed to define a structure having two passageways 19, the mounting of the vanes 14 on the walls 15 producing diverging streams of air from the respective outlets 13. The air streams may be rendered parallel by mounting either of the vanes 14 on the wall 16 by means of supports 49, 51. Hinged vanes 44 are mounted on supports 41 at the upper edge of the wall 16 to regulate the amount of conditioned air entering the passages 19 from a duet 11. In the embodiment of Fig. 8 (not shown) the air distributer comprises three passages 19.
