931,405. Colour-corrected negatives. S. TASKER, and D. S. TASKER. July 25, 1960 [Aug. 12, 1959], No. 27519/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 98 (2). A method of making a colour-corrected colour separation negative comprises placing a transparent sheet over the original and applying a retouching medium to areas of the sheet corresponding to selected areas of the original to obtain a colour correction mask for a selected colour aspect, separately photographing both the original and the mask in register to obtain superimposed latent images of a colour aspect of the original and of the corresponding mask, and developing the latent images to obtain a colour-corrected colour-separation negative. In an embodiment, more than one mask may be made and photographed in register with the latent image of the original, e.g. to give tinting or soft edge effects or to intensify the whites in which case one mask is made with its areas corresponding to all the colour aspects opacified leaving only the white areas transparent while the other mask is only opacified in those areas corresponding to the same colour as has been photographed from the original.
