Abstract

931,053. Photographic cameras. ALFRED GAUTHIER G.m.b.H. March 4, 1960 [March 14, 1959], No. 7664/60. Class 98 (1). In a photographic camera including a diaphragm, a photo-electric exposure meter, a scanner capable of scanning the position of a movable member of the exposure meter in dependence upon the actuation of the shutter trigger and a change-over arrangement settable to positions " Auto " and " Hand," a twoarmed lever rotatable about a stationary axis and connected to a member actuating the diaphragm is arranged to selectively connect the diaphragm to the change-over arrangement or to the scanner, the lever being displaceable by means of a control arrangement associated with the change-over arrangement when the latter is in the " Hand " position, and by means of the scanner when the change-over arrangement is in the " Auto " position. Automatic setting of the diaphragm in the camera shown in Fig. 2 is obtained as follows. As a shutter release 5 is depressed against the loading of a spring 7, a compression spring 13 depresses a scanner 6 until one of the steps 6a thereon comes against an exposure meter pointer 15, whereby the diaphragm comprising blades 8 is adjusted to an aperture depending on the measured light conditions by way of a bell crank lever 22, a slide 19, a two-armed lever 17 pivoted at 16 and a spring- urged diaphragm actuating ring 11. For manual setting of the diaphragm, a change-over ring 26 is rotated clockwise from its position in Fig. 2- by means of an external setting ring-so that movement of the slide 19 is prevented by the engagement of a pin 31 thereon with the outer periphery of the ring 26, lever 17 then being controlled by engagement of a pin 320 thereon with a cam 26b. The exposure meter galvanometer may be rotated in known manner to take account of shutter speed, film sensitivity and filter factors. Return of release 5 to its original position is prevented until exposure has been completed by means of a locking device (Fig. 5, not shown) which is automatically engaged on depression of the release 5 and is arranged to be released by a part of the shutter driving mechanism.
