Abstract

930,869. Plug and socket fastenings. LOUIS NEWMARK Ltd. Jan. 29, 1962 [Feb. 20, 1961], No. 6170/61. Class 44. A bracelet, necklace or other flexible elongated band-like article for personal wear has clasp means for connecting together the ends thereof to form a closed loop, the clasp means comprising plug and socket members 12, 13 secured one to each end of the articles are slidably engageable one with the other the plug member being formed with a circumferential groove 17 in which is mounted a spring ring 18 and the socket member being formed with a circumferential groove 19 into which the spring ring expands when the plug member is inserted into the socket member to restrain the members against axial movement. The groove 19 has an inclined side wall 21 on the side adjacent to the open end of the socket member to enable the plug member to be withdrawn from the socket member by the exertion of sufficient force. The plug member is formed with a socket to receive one end 10 of the article and the other end 11 of the article is received in the outer end of the socket member 16. Both members are formed with an exterior circumferential groove 24, 25 and the ends of the articles are secured by punching the bottoms of the grooves radially inwardly as indicated at 26 at two diametrically opposite points to grip the ends.
