930,186. Musical instruments. H. LINK, [trading as JOHS LINK KOMM.-GES.]. April 4, 1960 [Feb. 8, 1960], No. 11760/60. Class 88 (2). In a sonorous bar instrument consisting of tone units placed side by side each tone unit comprising a tone bar 2, Figs. 4, 5, and a resonance tube 1, each tone bar 2 has the same length as its associated resonance tube 1 and each tube 1 is tuned to resonate at the fundamental of its associated tone bar 2 by sizing a sound hole 3 close to and facing the tone bar 2 and, if present, other apertures 7 in a wall or walls, preferably end walls, of each resonance tube 1. For the higher-pitched tone units the end wall of the tubes 1 may be dispensed with entirely. The bars 2 are supported at their fundamental node points, about <SP>2</SP>/ 9 ths of the length of the bar from each end, by supports 4 having integral posts 6, and depending pins 5 which enter holes in the tubes 1. The tubes may be of circular cross-section and provided with feet so that they stand in a stable manner. Two rows of units may be provided, one row 2a being tuned to the major scale of C and the other row 2b being tuned to the accidentals (Fig. 3).
