Abstract
Viscose rayon filamentary material is produced by spinning a non-ripened viscose prepared from alkali cellulose which has not been aged into an aqueous spinning bath having a sulphuric acid concentration of less than 30 grams per litre, the bath having a temperature of from 30 DEG to 50 DEG C. and containing from 0,2 to 2,0 grams per litre of zinc sulphate, the concentration of zinc sulphate in the bath at any one temperature in said range being higher than that at a lower temperature in said range. The material may be improved by stretching it either inside or outside the spinning bath. It has superior dyestuff absorption, low swelling in water, and dilute alkali solution and high wet modulus. The preferred spinning velocity is 35-50 metres per minute.
