Abstract
929,443. Separating dust from gases. FARR CO. Jan. 24, 1961 [Aug. 12, 1960], No. 2734/61. Class 8(2). Apparatus for separating dust from a gas stream comprises at least one side wall 14, Fig. 1, along which dust-laden gas flows and having spaced elongated apertures 28, Fig. 6, formed by spaced vertical blades 36 extending between upper and lower plates 16, 18, Fig. 2, and between which blades substantially dust-free gas flows; the blades 36 being so orientated as to reverse the gas flow and each having a curved vane portion 40 serving to restore the direction of the clean gas flow to that of the dust-laden gas flow. As shown a pair of vertical convergent apertured walls 12, 14 and upper and lower imperforate plates 16, 18 form a passage having a dust-laden gas inlet 20, spaced clean gas outlets 28 in each side wall 12, 14, and a dust discharge opening 22 leading to a bin 43 which in turn opens into a shoot 48. The upper and lower ends of each blade 36 are welded to faces 32 of indented legs 30 carried by upper and lower flanges 21. A plurality of such divergent passages are arranged in parallel within a casing 10.
