Abstract
927,867. Fork trucks. R. HAUSER, F. BENGEL, A. SAUTER, and U. SAUTER, [trading as A. I. NACHFOLGER., [Firm of]]. Oct. 15, 1959 [Dec. 8, 1958], No. 34938/59. Class 78 (3). A fork truck comprises a front part 1, a rear part 2, and a lifting mast 12 positioned between. Mast 12 is carried by and slides along rods 8 and 10, and is driven therealong by motor 21 via gears 19, 20 which engage racks 9, 11. Mast 12 carries fork 23 hinged at 23<SP>1</SP>, and fork 24 hinged at 24<SP>1</SP>. Operation.-To use fork 23 fork 24 is hinged upwards, and fork 23 is driven forwards along the rods 8, 10 beneath the load, which is then transported away on the fork. Alternatively, fork 24 may be folded upwards, whilst fork 23 is driven along the rails for use. In a second embodiment, a cradle is mounted to move along the rods, and the lifting mast is mounted for rotation within the cradle so that a single fork may be used on either side of the truck.
