Abstract
927,367. Brakes. WESTERN ENGINEERING (DELABOLE) CO. Ltd. Aug. 4, 1961 [May 5, 1960], No. 15972/60. Class 103 (1). A braking system for a vehicle trailer comprises an hydraulic cylinder 20 and an associated ram 21 mounted on the trailer and operable by hydraulic fluid pressure available on the towing vehicle. The ram 21 is connected to a hand-operable, mechanical braking mechanism on the trailer by which means the trailer brakes are applied either by the ram 21 without movement of the hand lever or vice versa. The brake linkage may comprise a three-armed crank 14, two arms 18, 22 of which are connected through pin-and-slot 19, 23 lost-motion devices to the hand lever and ram 21 respectively. The third arm 16 is pivotally connected to the brakeoperating rod 17. An agricultural tractor is described in conjunction with the above system.
