Abstract

926,973. Automatic exchange systems. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. April 4, 1961 [April 4, 1960], No. 12078/61. Class 40 (4). In a system in which some stations are equipped for the transmission of data as well as speech, separate meters are allocated to the two types of transmission and discrimination is effected by a circuit UE forming part of the line circuit TS. A telephone call from the set FR is established in the normal manner, the meter Z1 being operated by impulses over a fourth wire. A call for the transmission of data from a device D is initiated by the actuation of a key TE or of a preadjusted clock contact zt2. Switching relay U1 closes the loop and selecting impulses are sent from a device N to establish the required connection, these impulses being preceded by an A.C. signal which operates relay U2. The selecting impulses also set a switch dm which connects up relay F, in the case of a trunk call. Relay U2 locks under the control of cut-off relay T and connects up the meter Z2 or Z3 according to the condition of relay F. The meters record different charge units. Data transmission may be prevented at certain times by a blocking relay S2 which is dependent on a clock contact zt1, relay U and, if desired, relay F, or relay S2 may control a further meter change-over. The metering impulses may be sent in high-frequency form to a receiver G at the subscriber's station to control different meters. On an incoming call the switch-over by relay U1 for data transmission may be effected by high-frequency ringing current which does not operate the bell. Specification 926,972 is referred to.
