926,776. Packaging machines. AMF-SASIB S.p.A. Jan. 12, 1961 [Jan. 14, 1960], No. 1374/61. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for grouping packages delivered from a pneumatic conveyer tube 1 comprises a housing 12 in which a drum 7 is rotated stepwise so that the leading package may be delivered by a pusher 4 into a pocket 107 on the drum and, after rotation of the drum, fall on to a plate 17, a pusher 18 forming a group of packages in a section of an intermittently rotated spider 35. After the spider 35 carries each group of packages through 90 degrees, one of a pair of sweeper plates 44 (see Group XXX) pivotally secured to endless chains 46, 146 pushes the packages horizontally on to an outlet plate 39, along which they are moved by conveyer belts 40. A photo-electric cell in the delivery tube 1 prevents the operation of the pusher 4 unless the packages in the tube 1 have reached a pre-determined height. The apparatus may be in multiple, Fig. 4, the packages being fed to a single grouping device.
