Abstract
926,084. Turbine and compressor blades. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Jan. 11, 1962, No. 1154/62. Class 110 (3). A turbine or compressor blade member comprises root 17, platform 18a and shroud 21 portions and two angularly spaced apart blade wall portions 24 each extending between the platform and shroud portions and constituting a part of an aerofoil-section wall of a hollow blade, the construction being such that when like bladed members are assembled to form an annulus the blade wall portions on adjacent bladed members co-operate to form complete aerofoil-section hollow blades between which there are spaces which are open to gas flow. The shroud portion 21 of each blade member 20 has a tongue 22 engaging a groove 23 of the adjacent blade member. Adjacent platforms 18a may also interlock. The adjacent portions 21, 18a are separated by gaps 30, 33 respectively for the flow of cooling air from chamber 32. Each member 20 is mounted in a rotor disc slot 16 by a " fir-tree " part 17 of the root portion 18. In a modified bladed member the root portion 17 is formed in two parts and the parts of an adjacent pair of members form a complete " fir-tree " root.
