Abstract
924,488. Animal traps. H. J. WHIFFEN. Feb. 19, 1962 [Feb. 20, 1961], No. 6097/61. Class 5(1). A bullfinch trap comprises cages 20, 21 in each of which is pivoted a perch 1 carrying a bracket 9 having an aperture 13 in which engages a wire stay 15 connected with a flap door 14. A further cage 22 for a decoy bird is provided. A bird alighting on the perch at 4 pivots the perch downwardly against the action of a spring 6 so that the stay 15 is disengaged from the bracket 9 thereby allowing the flap 14 to pivot downwardly to close the trap entrance. The door 14 may be formed in two parts, one part closing the cage entrance and the other closing an opening in the cage wall leading into the further cage 22.
