Abstract

924,289. Securing windscreen wipers on Shafts. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Dec. 28, 1961 [Feb. 9, 1961], No. 46408/61. Class 80 (2). The boss 6 of a windscreen wiper arm engages the end of the driving shaft 4 by splines 12 and is secured in position by a disc 16 formed with an eccentric hole 22 of the same diameter as the shaft, so that after the end of the shaft has been fully engaged in the boss the disc lies in an eccentric recess 13 in the end of the boss and in the plane of an annular groove 23 in the shaft, so that upon rotation of the disc by a lug 17, the peripheral edge of the hole 22 engages in the groove 23 to prevent axial movement of the boss. The lug 17 projects through a slot in the side wall of the boss and abuts against shoulders 19, 20 at the ends of the slot in the locking and release positions respectively. The disc may engage the outer end of the shaft and be held in place by a cap covering the shaft end, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown).
