Abstract

923,292. Protective cut-out systems. SIE. MENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Nov. 14, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 39113/60. Class 38 (5). An earth leakage protection system includes a core-balance transformer W having a secondary winding, the output of which is fed to means which responds to its phase relationship to a control value dependent upon the voltage relationship of a part of the protected system to a conductor extending alongside the main system conductors. As shown in Fig. 1, the relay R responds to the phase relationship between voltages Ust, U 1 , U 2 , the former being proportional to the voltage between an artificial star point and a " protective conductor " SL. In Fig. 3, the voltage Ust is arranged to oscillate a " mechanical contact rectifier" 1 so that the output U of the core-balance transformer is fed to a polarized relay 2 to effect operation in a direction dependent on the phase relationship and so indicate the direction of the fault relative to the transformer. A transistor bridge circuit may be triggered by the voltage Ust (Fig. 4, not shown), or the respective voltages may be converted to squarewave pulses and/or amplified to operate a relay which may cause the main system to be deenergized (e.g. by a short-circuiting switch, Figs. 5 and 6, not shown).
