[Also in Groups XX and XL (b)] In an X-ray diffractometer the specimen and detector are rotated at speeds in the ratio 1 : 2 between limiting positions in both of which the same limit switch is opened. When the limit switch 16 is opened, contact 118 opens to deenergize a relay 107 opening contact 119 and change over the contacts of a relay 120 to reverse the motor 13. Relay 107 is of the type in which contact 119 remains open when limit switch 16 is closed and only closes when limit switch is next opened, causing the motor to reverse again. Lamps 19, 20 indicate the direction of rotation of the motor.
