Abstract

The 2,5-diphenyl piperazine salt of a heparide is prepared by the interaction of 2,5-diphenyl piperazine acetate and the alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of the heparide, e.g. the sodium salt, in aqueous acetic acid. Heparide N-acyl substituents specified are 3,5-dimethyl benzoyl, p-nitrobenzoyl, 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl, p-acetoxy benzoyl, 3,4,5-trimethoxy benzoyl, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetyl, phenyl-ethyl-acetyl, b -naphthoyl, and p-toluene sulphonyl. The example describes the preparation of the 2,5-diphenyl piperazine salt of 3,5-dimethylbenzheparide containing 59% of the heparide. Specifications 784,897 and 863,235 are referred to.ALSO:An anti-lipaemic composition for injection comprises an aqueous suspension of the 2,5-diphenyl piperazine salt of a heparide. Heparide N-acyl substituents specified are 3,5-dimethyl benzoyl, p-nitrobenzoyl, 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl, p-acetoxy benzoyl, 3,4,5-trimethoxy benzoyl, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetyl, phenyl - ethyl - acetyl, b -naphthoyl, and p-toluene sulphonyl.
