Abstract

921,819. Snap-action switches. J. A. CRABTREE & CO. Ltd. Sept. 19, 1961 [Oct. 28, 1960; March 11, 1961], Nos. 37057/60 and 8985/61. Class 38 (5). A rocker-operated switch comprises a moulded switch plate 3, apertured for protrusion of the rocker 1 and having an integral switch base 4 thereon recessed for housing the switch mechanism, the walls of the base incorporating terminals disposed externally of said recess. Two terminals 8a, 8b have strips 10a, 10b carrying contacts 11 spaced apart by the length of the tubular terminal bodies. Rocker 1 houses a spring-pressed ball 16a bearing on a moving contact plate 14 which is tiltable on flat-topped dimples 13 and which carries a contact button 14b movable with a two-stage snap action between the fixed contacts 11.A shoulder 1a of rocker 1 positively disengages the contacts 11, 14b in the event of their welding. An insulating cover-plate 18 holds the switch mechanism in the switch base 4.
