Abstract

921,175. Venting apparatus. J. NEUMANN, and P. NEUMANN. Jan. 2, 1961, No. 130/61. Class 21. [Also in Group XXIX]. The vent 4 of a fuel tank is connected to a chamber 1 containing a porous substance 7 which absorbs the fuel vapour escaping through the vent and releases it into fresh air flowing back into the tank through the vent. The absorbing substance may be sponge rubber, activated carbon, or a porous substance coated with asphalt. The device 1 may be situated on top of the tank or, as shown in Fig. 3, at the side thereof, the escape pipe 17 from the chamber 1 being carried up to the level of the tank top.
