[Also in Group XXVI] An electrical thrust producing device comprises an elongated carrier member 10 of electrically insulating material supporting at least three spaced electrodes 16, 15, 14 between certain of which electrodes, as shown 15 and 16, a D.C. voltage is applied and between others, as shown 16 and 14, an A.C. voltage, the electrodes being of such configuration that non- uniform electrical fields are established result. ing, it is believed, in the production and acceleration of ions in the surrounding medium. The further ring electrode 11 shown is connected to the electrode 15. Electrode 14 is a metallic coating or fine mesh on a dielectric support 13 and electrode 15 may also be made in this way. The frequency of the A.C. voltage may be adjusted.
