Abstract

920,327. Tyre valve connectors. WALTERS & DOBSON Ltd. Aug. 18, 1959 [Aug. 19, 1958], No. 26694/58. Addition to 872,246. Class 99(1). The tyre valve connector of the parent Specification is modified by providing a valveunseating pin 11 separate from the camactuated slidable unit 5 and axially-movable relative thereto against the force of a spring 16 for unseating a tyre valve member 17, the end portion of the pin remote from its valve unseating end extending through a detachable and co-axial gauge receiving nipple 10 and being adapted to act as a spring-pressed valve member for the nipple. The pin 11 is provided with a collar 14 supporting a packing ring 19 which seals the apertured end of the nipple 10 when a tyre is being inflated by pressure fluid introduced through a hose nipple 6. The unit 5 is formed with a recess 7a which provides a stop for the tyre valve stem 18 to keep the pin 11 clear of the valve member 17 until the pin is actuated by the gauge 13 for testing the tyre pressure. The distance between the end of the pin and the valve member is such that interior of the nipple 10 is opened to the gauge prior to the valve member being unseated by the pin 11.
