Abstract
920,175. Pulse circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Aug. 24, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1960], No. 29252/60. Class 40 (6). A pulse lengthening circuit comprises a charge-storing diode and a further diode in series across the input terminals and a thermionic or transistor amplifier fed with the voltage across the charge-storing diode. Each positive-going pulse applied to input 1 is gated in gate 2 under control of a clock pulse C1 and passed via a germanium point-contact diode 5 to charge a junction or gold-bonded diode 6. At the end of each incoming pulse, diode 5 becomes non-conductive but diode 6 retains its charge until a clock pulse C2 (delayed with respect to C1) discharges diode 6 via diode 11. Diode 6 thus remains charged for the period between clock pulses and valve 7 conducts for this period to produce a flat-top pulse of corresponding duration.
