Abstract

A method of moulding a reinforced polyester resin article comprises laying the reinforcing agent (e.g. glass fibre cloth) over a male element or in a female element of a pair of matched moulding elements, bringing the elements together with a space between them corresponding to the thickness of the articles to be moulded, and injecting polyester resin into the space whilst reciprocating the elements relative to each other until the injection is completed when the elements are locked at the required spacing until the resin is set. In the production of safety helmets a layer of glass cloth honeycomb material is sandwiched between, and bonded to, the reinforced shells made by the above process.
