[Also in Group XXXV] The burner 3 of a gas-fired boiler having a combustion chamber 1 surmounted by a heat exchanger 2 is fed via control valves 12 and 15 the valve 15 being controlled by a first thermally responsive device 8 exposed to the heat of the water in the heat-exchanger and the valve 12 being controlled by a second thermally-responsive device 10 located adjacent the exit point of the water path. The device 8 operates to close the valve 15 if the incoming water temperature is above that to which the device is set. Should the outlet temperature exceed that to which the device 10 is set, which may indicate a fault in the system, then valve 12 is closed, this valve being of the type which has to be re-set manually. The devices 8 and 10 may be of the phial and bellows type, and the valves 12 and 15 may be operated by capillary tubes 14 and 16 extending from the devices 10 and 8. The valve 12 includes an electromagnet energizable by a thermo-couple 13 exposed to the heat of a pilot burner (not shown).
