Abstract

918,752. Pipe joints. MUCHER, H. Sept. 15, 1961 [Nov. 7, 1960], No. 33268/61. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXVI]. A rubber &c. sealing ring for a spigot and - socket pipe joint comprises a cylindrical sleeve 17, a sealing lip 16, radial centring projections 18 and a sealing flange 10 provided with one or more axially projecting buffers 21 which, in use, are compressed between the end face 11 of the spigot pipe 12 and the base of the socket 14. As shown the buffers 21 are in the form of two coaxial rings. The sleeve 17 is a tight fit on the pipe 12 and the lip 16 engages the socket wall 15. The space between the pipe 12 and the socket wall may be filled with a caulking compound 19 e.g. a bituminous based compound.
