Abstract

918,268. Two-part couplings. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. July 29, 1960 [Aug. 10, 1959], No. 27317/59. Class 38 (1). A socket assembly comprises a metal tube 1 having a pinreceiving portion at one end, integral resilient fingers 4 at the opposite end for snap-fastener engagement in an aperture in a printed circuit panel 9, and an outwardly - projecting annular bead 5 intermediate the ends in locking engagement with a groove 7 in an outer sleeve 6 of resilient insulating material, e.g. polyethylene. Opposed inward indentations 12 in the pin-receiving portion, which has an axial slit 2, make frictional engagement with a pin 3 mounted in a cap 13 of nylon or synthetic plastic insulating material. Sleeve 6 reinforces the pin-receiving portion against over-expansion and may be coloured, as may the cap 13 of the pin 3. The fingers 4 are soldered to the printed circuit at 11.
