Abstract

918,156. Filters. LANCASTER & TONGE Ltd. Oct. 30, 1961 [Dec. 10, 1960], No. 42577/60. Class 46. A water pipeline strainer comprises a number of perforated or open mesh baskets A, preferably cylindrical, mounted between two discs B1, B2, the baskets being open at one end to the water inlet and closed at the other end, the water outlet being connected to the space between the discs through a series of ports in the disc B2, a slipper connection F, to atmosphere allowing the pressure of the water within the disc and basket assembly to backwash each basket when the assembly is rotated to bring a basket into alignment with the slipper F by a hand wheel G through a pinion gl meshing with a gear wheel b2 formed on or secured to the periphery of the disc B2. The slipper is held in contact with the Router face of the disc B1 by a light coil spring f. The discs and baskets assembly may alternatively be rotated through gearing by an external motor.
