Abstract

918,118. Aerial systems. MESSERSCHMITT A.G. Oct. 31, 1961, No. 38869/61. Class 40 (7). [Also in Group XXXIII] The radar antenna of an aircraft fire-control equipment is tiltable from the direction of the longitudinal axis of the aircraft to the direction which is vertical when the aircraft is on the ground. In the Figure, a nose radome 19 is pivoted on the fuselage to swing through 90 degrees, whereby the normal in-flight firecontrol system is usable without taking-off. The front undercarriage may be extensible to incline the fuselage to be nose upward, thus rendering the antenna axis vertical, so that lowlevel targets can be detected at any azimuth.
