Class 7(3) In an engine as described in the parent Specification, having a swirl type combustion chamber 2 into the throat 3 of which fuel, stored in a chamber 5 is injected by the pressure in the cylinder transmitted through passage 4, the chamber 2 deflects at least some of the fuel and air mixture issuing from the throat 3 towards that side of the axis of the duct 3 on which the fuel injection duct 7 is situated. In a modification, chamber 2 is torus shaped and in Fig. 3 the throat 32 leading to the cylinder is of rectangular cross-section and is twisted helically.
