Abstract
917,272. A.C. track circuits. SIEMENS & GENERAL ELECTRIC RAILWAY SIGNAL CO. Ltd., and RIDDLE, H. J. N. Feb. 4, 1959 [Feb. 7, 1958], No. 4068/58. Class 105. In a railway signalling A.C. track circuit arrangement for electrified traction systems, the signalling frequency is chosen to be appreciably different from that of the traction supply or that used in industrial plant adjacent the track. A frequency of 83 1/3 c/s. is used in the arrangement indicated in which rail 1 is insulated at the entry and exit points of the track section and rail 2 is continuous forming a return circuit for the traction supply. The track signalling supply is fed to the section via transformer 4, and at the opposite end of the section, the track voltage is fed to the grid circuit of a valve 19 via a transformer 9 which has its primary circuit tuned to the signal frequency by condenser 11 and transformer 14 which has its secondary circuit similarly tuned by condenser 17. The output of the valve, which receives its power supply from the signal supply source is applied to the control coil 25 of a track relay which is of the double element vane type having a local coil which is supplied from the signal supply source. The control coil 25 is tuned to resonate at 83 1/3 c/s.
