Abstract
917,207. Spring upholstery. AMERICAN METAL PRODUCTS CO. May 5, 1961, No. 16345/61. Class 52 (4). A spring cushion assembly has sinuous spring strips 25 mounted on a frame 20 and intermediate springs 32, 33 with load bearing straight sections 34 supported cantilever fashion by arms 35. In a modification, Fig. 5, spring elements 51 support an insulator 71 comprising a paper or cloth body 72 having hardened wires 73 laced therethrough. Additional wire springs 74 may be connected to elements 51 (Fig. 12). In a further modification, Fig. 14, the spring has an arm 82 with an offset portion 83 spaced from a laterally extending portion which pivots in an opening in a struck-up portion 85 of the frame, a block of rubber secured to the frame being engaged by portion 83. In other embodiments springs 51 are sinuous.
