Abstract

The invention comprises khellin derivatives having the formulae:- <FORM:0915631/IV (b)/1> <FORM:0915631/IV (b)/2> together with their preparation by treating desmethylkhellin with b -dimethylaminoethyl chloride, reacting the product with methyl iodide, bromide or chloride and converting the resulting methohalide of 5-(b -dimethylaminoethoxy) - 8 - methoxy - 2-methyl-41,51-furo-6,7-chromone to the corresponding quaternary hydroxide or the theophyllinate salt by reaction with moist silver oxide in ethanol or with the silver salt of theophylline respectively. The compounds are coronary vasodilators.
