Abstract

915,594. Saddle supports. GATES, G. R. G. Nov. 2, 1961 [Nov. 3, 1960], No. 37745/60. Class 136(3). A cycle saddle support has a stem 10 to enter the seat tube 11, a collapsible connection of parallel limbs 14, 15, 16 between the stem and the saddle which are resiliently urged upwards, at 21, to a vertical position for riding and are pivotable forward and downward to provide a lower saddle position and locking means to hold the limbs in the vertical position. The saddle is attached to a pillar 17. The locking means comprises a quadrant 19 secured to the limbs 15 and having holes 24 and 25 spaced 90 degrees apart which are engaged by a spring loaded plunger 27 operated by a cable 29. A cushion 31 provides shock damping when the linkage is lowered.
