Abstract

915,492. Seed sowing machines. GERMAINS Inc. Sept. 14, 1961, No. 32993/61. Class 6(1). A seed sowing machine comprises a seed wheel 18 rotatable about a horizontal axis and provided with a plurality of transverse grooves 52 across the width thereof and an exit opening 54 provided with a leading edge 56 which is at an angle with respect to the grooves of the seed wheel. As shown the grooves 52 are parallel to the axis of the seed wheel and the opening is arranged obliquely. In a modification the grooves are arranged obliquely and the opening is parallel to the axis of the wheel. Seed is fed from a hopper to a chamber 50 and the housing 22 is formed with grooves 60 which guide the seeds as they travel round. The seeds drop into a shoot 74 attached to a furrow opener 19. In a modification the grooves 60 are formed in nylon lines which are inserted into the housings 20, 22.
