Abstract

915,460. Sheet delivery apparatus. MULLER, C. H. April 6, 1960 [April 22, 1959], No. 12146/60. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group XIX] Veneer sheets on a conveyer are sorted according to length and delivered to one of three piles 30, 31, 32 (see Group XIX). To prevent damage to the sheets when they are piled, each sheet drops first of all on to a pair of rails 45, 46 (Fig. 2) lying parallel to the direction of movement of the conveyer. When the leading edge of a sheet operates a contact 20a, a circuit is made through relays 152. These actuate valves 153 so allowing pressure fluid to flow into cylinders 35, 36 through a pair of conduits 156, thus displacing pistons 154 outwardly, and with them the rails 45, 46. The veneer sheet drops on to the pile below thus releasing the contact 20a. The pistons are then moved inwardly and the rails 45, 46 are ready to receive the next sheet. The whole device may be adjusted along tubes 37, 38 to accommodate different widths of sheets. The sheets are stacked on readily removable pallets 30, 31, 32 and these rest on platforms 24, 25, 26 which are lowered by piston-and-cylinder devices 27, 28, 29 supplied with pressure fluid controlled by valves H in accordance with the respective heights of the stacks as they increase.
