Abstract
915,231. Liquid - pressure engines. ATELIERS DE POCLAIN-BATAILLE ET FILS. Oct. 11, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 34783/60. Class 69 (2). Speed-varying means in an hydraulic, radialcylinder motor comprise hydraulically-actuated piston valves, within the cylinder block, which are controllable to cut-off the hydraulic supply to selected working cylinders. A rotatable cylinder block 2 houses working cylinders 2b which are supplied by a fixed distributer 4. Pistons 3 in cylinders 2b engage cam tracks 6 through followers 7 and are urged inwardly by an elastic strip 11. Distributer 4 has alternating inlet and outlet ports on its cylinder block-engaging face (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown). Pressure fluid enters and leaves cylinders 2b through passages 2a alignable with the distributer ports and controlled by piston valves 16. Grooves 16a on valves 16 may be positioned to connect cylinders 2b either to passages 2a or to the casing 1. Cylinder 2b 1 has no piston valve and serves as a pressure-fluid reservoir for the piston valves. A control valve member 12, axially slidable within a bore 2e by a rod 13, serves to connect cylinder 2b 1 to one or more valve cylinders 2d, the valve cylinder inlets 2f opening at selected points along the bore 21 so that one or more of the piston valves may be actuated according to the position of member 12. Locating means for member 12 comprise grooves 12a and a spring-loaded ball 18. Member 12 rotates with the cylinder block and is connected to operating rod 13 through a bearing 14. Piston valves 16 are urged inwardly by an elastic strip 20, their outward movement being limited by stops 17. An exhaust port 1e is provided in the casing 1.
