Abstract

The invention comprises substituted pyridazones of formula <FORM:0915042/IV (b)/1> in which R1 denotes a cycloalkyl radical or a substituted cycloalkyl radical, X denotes an amino group, an amino group substituted by one or two identical or different alkyl, b -hydroxyalkyl, g -hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl groups, a polymethylene-imino group, a morpholino group or a piperazino group and Y denotes a halogen atom. The compounds are prepared by reacting a mucohalic acid with a substituted hydrazine of formula R1-NH-NH2, and reacting the dihalopyridazone thus obtained with ammonia or substituted ammonia of formula XH wherein R1 and X have the meanings stated above. 1-Cyclohexyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazone-6, for example, is obtained by reaction of 1-cyclohexyl-4,5-dichloropyridazone-6 (which can be prepared from cyclohexylhydrazine and mucochloric acid) with ammonia. Other novel pyridazones specified are 1 - o - hydroxycyclohexyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazone-6 and 1-cyclooctyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazone-6. The compounds of the invention are effective herbicides as well as having other influences on plant growth (see Groups I and VI).ALSO:Compositions for influencing plant growth comprise a substituted pyridazone of formula <FORM:0915042/I/1> in which R1 denotes a cycloalkyl radical or a substituted cycloalkyl radical, X denotes an amino group, an amino group substituted by one or two identical or different alkyl, b -hydroxyalkyl, a -hydrocxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl groups, a polymethylene-imino group, a morpholino group or a piperazino group and Y denotes a halogen atom, and a carrier. Solutions, emulsions, suspensions or dusting agents may be used. The carrier may be phytotonic, e.g. high boiling mineral oil fractions or chlorinated hydrocarbons. Other carriers include coal tar oils, vegetable and animal oils, hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, ethers, water and solid carriers. Wetting agents, emulsifying agents, dispersing agents, fatty acids, resins and protective colloids may be present, as may bactericides, fungicides or fertilizers. The agents may be used for dehydration, acceleration of ripening by premature desiccation, reduction of fruit setting, retardation of flowering, prolongation of harvesting period and store life, and for promotion of germination or rooting.ALSO:Herbicidal compositions comprise a substituted pyridazone of formula <FORM:0915042/VI/1> in which R1 denotes a cycloalkyl radical or a substituted cycloalkyl radical, X denotes an amino group, an amino group substituted by one or two identical or different alkyl, b -hydroxyalkyl, g -hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl groups, a polymethylene-imino group, a morpholino group or a piperazino group and g denotes a halogen atom, and a carrier. Solutions, emulsions, suspensions or dusting agents may be used. The carrier may be phytotoxic, e.g. high boiling mineral oil fractions or chlorinated hydrocarbons. Other carriers include coal tar oils, vegetable and animal oils, hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, ethers, water and solid carriers. Wetting agents, emulsifying agents, dispersing agents, fatty acids, resins and protective colloids may be present as may bactericides, fungicides or fertilizers. The agents may be used as total or selective herbicides, and for dehydration, acceleration of ripening by premature desiccation, reduction of fruit setting, retardation of flowering and prolongation of harvesting period and store life.
