Abstract

914,435. Valve supply circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Dec. 5, 1960, No. 41757/60. Class 40 (6). In a radio transmitter a relay 2 disconnects power from the valves in the event of excessive anode dissipation in the final valve 1, being operative upon the difference between the cathode current of this valve and a current proportional to its power output. The final valve 1 feeds coaxial cable 5 via tuned circuit 3 and variable inductor 4, and the connecting conductor passes through a toroidal core 7 on which is a secondary winding 8. This winding produces a voltage proportional to transmitter output current to which is added a voltage proportional to transmitter output voltage, by means of tuned circuit 12, 13, coupled to the cable by capacitor 17 and which feeds into the centre-tap on resistor 9. The combined voltage is fed to a full-wave rectifier comprising diodes 10, 11, provided with a delay bias from source 14. A current proportional to the transmitter output power is derived from the full-wave rectifier and is fed to one winding of relay 2, the second winding of which is in the cathode circuit of the valve 1, being connected in opposition to the first winding. Specification 914,434 is referred to.
