914,390. Drying compressor units. CLAUSEN, M., [trading as DANFOSS VED ING M. CLAUSEN]. June 15, 1961 [June 18, 1960], No. 21716/61. Class 34 (2). In a method of drying units, e.g. hermeticallysealed compressor units for refrigerators, the units are passed through successive zones of an oven, the first zone containing the saturated vapour of a heated oil and grease-dissolving dehydrating agent, the second zone containing a superheated vapour. Units 6 to be dried are successively passed through drying chambers 2, 7 of an oven 1, the first chamber having liquid perchloroethylene, or trichloroethylene, which is vaporized by an electric heating element 4, and the second chamber containing superheated dry air or nitrogen. The walls of the chamber 2 are cooled by pipes 5 so that the perchloroethylene will complete a vaporization and condensation cycle, the condensing perchloroethylene dripping down from the units carrying with it dissolved oil and grass. The units are submitted to a conventional pressure test with dry air on emergence from the second chamber and, while still under pressure, are carried through an additional oven, e.g. a lacquer-drying oven, and not until then relieved of pressure.
