Abstract

913,815. Cinematographic cameras. CONTINA BUREAUXUND RECHENMASCHINENFABRIK A.G. July 29, 1959 [Aug. 6, 1958], No. 26037/59. Class 97 (1). A motion picture camera having setting means for determining the picture frequency and automatic means for controlling the diaphragm aperture to correspond with said frequency, also has adjusting means provided for setting the frequency and diaphragm aperture independent of the first. In the camera shown, a series of lenses, e.g. lens 3, are arranged on a plate rotatable about an axis 4-4. Each lens is carried in a diaphragm-adjusting ring with a projection 5 which is spring-urged towards a maximum diaphragm aperture position but is arrested by a stop-arm 6 of a lever 7, the second arm of which is controlled by the arm 9 of a lever rotatable about a point 10 by vertical movement of a bar 12 which is spring-urged downward. The bar 12 is connected by means of a screw 21 resting on projections 22 to a movable plate 23 which is controlled by film feed adjustment means 31, so that adjustment of the film feed gives a corresponding adjustment of the diaphragm. The film speed is varied in steps by rotating a knob 32 which places one of a number of projections 36-38 of different lengths under the lug 22 which varies the vertical position of the plate 23 and also of the brake disc 40 of a pendulum governor 41 through a pin 39. The film speed (and diaphragm) may be altered quickly and continuously by rotating a lever 45 clockwise which rotates a cam 47 to move a rod 49 to the right against a spring, so that a cam edge 56 moves the plate 23 upwards. Similarly to alter only the diaphragm aperture the lever 43 is rotated which moves the bar 12 through a cam 46 and rod 48. Cam 47 is connected to lever 45 by a hollow shaft 44 carried on a shaft 42 to which are attached lever 43 and cam 46. The film feed is controlled by a button 64 and a ring 65. For one position of this ring still shots may be taken and the diaphragm aperture may be controlled by a projection 63 which engages slot 62 on a movable rod 59, the cam 60 of which controls rod 12 and the diaphragm aperture. Operation of release button 64 moves cam 66 out of engagement with rod 12. Means may be provided to mark the film at the parts run at a different speed, which marks may be detected by speed control means in a projector.
