Abstract
913,747. Blasting devices and arrangements. SOC. SUISSE DES EXPLOSIFS, and DELMONTE, J. Oct. 13, 1960 [Oct. 17, 1959], No. 35100/60. Class 9 (1). Means for detonating charges during mining operations characterized in that detonators 2, each attached to one end of a fuze cord 1 are placed in the charges to be exploded, the free ends of the cords being provided with sleeves 9 of metal or plastics into which electrically ignitable primers, in metal or plastics sleeves 22 are placed. All the primers are connected in series for simultaneous ignition when " lengthened " fuze cords are used or in predetermined groups for blasting in series. The whole unit is made water impervious by using a plastics covering at 6, waterproof adhesive or plugs at 7, 10 and 20 and diaphragms 8, 21. A groove in the sleeve 22 or vents in the sleeve 9 may be provided to allow any water present to be driven out on insertion of the electric primer.
