913,467. Automatic gain-control. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Sept. 27, 1960 [Feb. 16, 1960], No. 5424/60. Class 40 (5). An automatic gain-control arrangement for a carrier-frequency amplifier 1 which feeds a line 2 comprises a frequency-changer 8 and local oscillator 4 feeding an intermediatefrequency amplifier 5 the output of which is rectified by rectifier 6 to provide a control voltage controlling the gain of amplifier 1 over line 7. The intermediate frequency may be higher than the original carrier frequency, allowing of a short time-constant in the automatic gain-control circuit 7, yet adequate filtering.
