Abstract
913,267. Roof drainage. HARRISON, E. DU G. July 11, 1960 [July 9, 1959], No. 24084/60. Class 33. In a device for draining water from flat surfaces, such as roofs, comprising a sump 9 and a ring 10 to clamp sheet material 13 covering a surface thereto, the ring 10 is held by at least one connecting member pivotally secured inside it, about an axis normal to the axis of the ring, screw means clamping the ring 10 to the sump 9. The screw means is preferably captive on the connecting member(s). A grating 11, which is domed or flat, may cover the sump 9, a connecting member, which is a bowed stirrup 12, being connected between them (Fig. 2), and in it there may be a slot 17 enlarged at 18 for passage therethrough of a screw 16. To prevent the stirrup contracting and slipping along the shafts 15 various means can be used. The stirrup 12 is held centrally by the screw 16, is pivoted to the sump 9 by slotted legs which pass over stub shafts 15 on bosses 19, and is made of a springy material for clipping into position in the sump. In a modification the stirrup 20 is T-shaped (Fig. 4), the head of the T being pivoted in bores 21 in bosses 19 in the sump 9 and the screw 16 on the leg 23 of the T is secured in position by a split pin 22.
