Abstract

912,769. Wind-screen wipers. HOUDAILLE CO. Ltd., and FENANDES, A. M. Sept. 29, 1961 [March 8, 1961], No. 8570/61. Class 138(1). A wind-screen wiper comprises a wiper-arm 17 carrying a blade 18 and pivotally mounted on a carriage 14 having rollers 13, 15 engaging a guide 12 and guide surfaces on the housing 10 respectively and movable by an endless drive belt 20 carried on pulleys 21, 22, and a connection between the belt 20 and the carriage 14 comprising a roller 25 carried by the belt 20 and engaging an inclined channel 27 in the carriage 14. The pulley 21 is motordriven and the pulley 22 is positionally adjustable. A water-jacket 30 with a heater element 31 is provided which encircles a slot in the housing 10 through which a bracket 16 mounted on the carriage 14 projects. Nozzles 32 are provided to supply cleaning water to the wind-screen as required.
