Abstract

912,707. Lightning arresters. JOSLYN MFG. & SUPPLY CO. May 6, 1959 [May 28, 1958], No. 15560/59. Class 38 (4). In a lightning arrester of the type disclosed in Specification 800,740, the arrester is provided with an annular outer electrode 40 concentric with an inner electrode 42, and a magnetic field to cause the arc to move in a circular path to prevent erosion of the electrodes. The magnetic field is supplied by a permanent magnet 44 supported internally of one of the electrodes and is retained by peening over a groove 62 machined in. the inner electrode.
