Abstract

L-Glutamic acid is prepared by cultivating Brevibacterium divaricatum in an aqueous nutrient medium containing desthiobiotin under submerged aerobic conditions. Preferred strains of Brevibacterium divaricatum are NRRL B-2311 and NRRL B-2312.
