Abstract
911,876. Cycle brakes. ANGLO-CONTINENTAL CYCLES & ACCESSORIES Ltd. June 26, 1961 [Dec. 13, 1960], No. 23004/61. Class 136(1). A cycle brake is formed from two levers 1 and 2 which have wheel-rim-clamping brake-blocks 3 and 4 at their bottom ends and each of which has a longitudinal slot 15 or 16 at one end of which is fitted a pivot 19 or 20 connected to a brake support 10, the gap between the pivot and the other end of the slot being occupied by a wedge 17 or 18. This construction enables the same shape of lever to be used at the front and rear of the cycle, despite dimensional variations between the front and rear wheel-forks, depending on whether the wedge is placed above the pivot as in Fig. 1 or below, as in the part-sectional side view of the brakeblock and pivot shown in Fig. 6. The levers are secured to the pivots by screws 23, 24 with washers 25, 26. The supports 10 are fixed to the transverse part of the front fork as in Fig. 1, or to the rear fork, as in Fig. 5 (not shown). Cables 11, 13 deflect the levers against the bias of return springs as at 5 of Fig. 6.
