Abstract

911,077. Rectilinear-motion bearings. HAYES ENGINEERS (LEEDS) Ltd. Sept. 2, 1960 [Oct. 14, 1959], No. 34813/59. Class 12 (1). A rectilinear-motion ball bearing has a guide 2 with a longitudinal ball-track 8 along its periphery and a return passageway 11 therethrough, and end caps 13 each having a curved path 12 to connect the track 8 and passageways 11 to allow re-circulation of the balls. The balls engage fixed guide tracks 18 having longitudinal V-shaped grooves 17 therein and the guide 2 is held by bolts 3 to a movable member 4, clearance being provided between the bolts 3 and the guide 2 to allow self-aligning to be effected. The groove 17 extends to a recess 16 which receives the spigots 15 of the caps 13 and the latter are provided with semicircular cavities 12a which receive semicircular projections 19 of the guide 2.
