A fluid-flow control valve comprises a body 1 having inflow and outflow openings 6 and contains a valve element 5 in the form of a rubber or other elastic ball to which radial pressure may be applied by means 10, 12 to cause it to spread and close the openings 6. A rod 7 may be omitted to allow the element 5 to float freely and an 0-type seal 14 may be replaced by a diaphragm having its periphery clamped under a cap in screw-threaded engagement with the body, an integral boss in the centre of the diaphragm serving to engage the element 5 and to receive the upper end of the rod 7.
