Abstract

A solution suitable for rendering an object surgically clean p comprises an aqueous solution of a germicide e.g. hexachlorophene, phenol and cresol and their derivatives and a surfactant cleansing agent e.g. a soap or detergent, the solution being vibrated at a frequency in the range of 10 to 200 and preferably 15 to 50 kilocycles per second while contained in a vessel designed to permit immersion in the solution of the object to be cleaned. The solution may be vibrated at a power level of 10 to 300 watts and may contain from 0.01% to 10% preferably 0.1% to 5% by weight of germicide and 1 to 10% and preferably 1-5% by weight of surfactant cleansing agent.
